A very fine needle is used to ‘fill’ the wrinkle, line or skin depression with a product. The wrinkle-smoothing effects of most dermal fillers are temporary and regular treatments are needed to maintain the effect.
Some of the different types of dermal fillers include:
-
Collagen – suitable for deep lines and some scars. The effects last for about four to six months (known as Collagen, Zyderm®, Zyplast®, CosmoPlast® and Cosmoderm®).
-
Hyaluronic acid – suitable for thin surface lines, such as those that occur around the mouth and across the forehead. The effects last for about one year (known as Restylane®, Perlane®, Dermalive®, Juvéderm®, Emervel®, Sub Q®, Esthelis® and Belotero®).
-
Hyaluronan (a form of hyaluronic acid) – suitable for deep lines and acne scars. This product can be used as an alternative for people who are allergic to collagen. The effects last for about six months (known as Hylaform®).
-
Medical practitioners use botulinum toxin type A to treat medical conditions including facial tics, muscle spasms and excessive sweating. It is currently available under the brand names Botox® and Dysport®. Botulinum toxin type A is registered for cosmetic use to treat facial lines and wrinkles. It is very effective helping patients minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

What is C02 Laser Resurfacing?
Carbon dioxide (C02) lasers can precisely remove thin layers of skin with minimal damage to the surrounding structures. These lasers treat sun damage, wrinkles, scars, warts, birthmarks and other skin conditions. Unlike most treatments that only last for months, C02 Laser Resurfacing lasts for years. After the procedure it will look like you have a sunburn, but as the skin heals it is now smooth and glowing.

What is IPL?
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a technology used by cosmetic and medical practitioners to perform various skin treatments for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes, including hair removal, photorejuvenation as well as to alleviate dermatologic diseases such as acne.

What are Chemical Peels?
Our chemical peel treatment is a popular choice for those looking to improve their skin's texture and tone. It's a non-invasive method that utilizes a chemical solution to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin. We will work with you to determine the best chemical peel for your skin type and desired results.

What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is one of the most popular dermal fillers available on the market today. This non-surgical treatment is used to restore volume and minimize fine lines and wrinkles. It can last up to a year or more, depending on the individual. The best news? There is minimal discomfort during the quick, outpatient procedure.

The most common uses for Juvederm are:

1 – REDUCE PARENTHESES LINES
The skin has a tendency to lose moisture and elasticity with age. That is why fine parentheses can develop around the mouth and nose. Juvederm can add volume to the face, which can reduce the appearance of parentheses lines. The results will typically last 9-12 months and patients typically need less Juvederm when they are treated again.
2 – LIFT AND CONTOUR CHEEKS
Fine lines and wrinkles are not the only changes that you may notice as you get older. The cheeks have a tendency to flatten and lose volume, too. Juvederm can restore volume as well as lift and contour the face. This can restore one’s youthful appearance. In fact, some people who use Juvederm have reported looking five years younger. The results can last up to two years in the cheeks.
3 – PLUMP LIPS
If you’ve noticed that your lips have been getting thinner, then you may want to consider Juvederm for fuller lips. The results can last up to one year. Studies have shown that 78 percent of people were satisfied with the look and feel of their lips after one year.

What is Hyperpigmentation?
At FYMD Spa, we understand that hyperpigmentation can be a frustrating and challenging skin concern. Hyperpigmentation is a condition where the skin produces excess melanin, resulting in dark spots and uneven pigmentation. These dark spots can increase with age.

How can I help prevent skin damage?
The sun and time are your skin's biggest enemies. You can't do anything about time, but you can use modern technology to reverse it. As for the sun, your biggest friend is sunscreen.

ABOUT SUNSCREEN
There are two types of protective lotions ~ chemical and physical.

Sunblock, a physical block, contains both organic and non-organic ingredients that
sit on top of the skin acting as a barrier between your skin and damaging UV rays
by reflecting or scattering UVB light, i.e.g, octyl methoxycinnamate, octyl
salicylate and octocrylene.

Sunscreen, a chemical kind, penetrates the skin and absorbs the UVA rays before
they are able to reach and damage your dermal layer. Zinc oxide and titanium
dioxide are the active ingredients in deflecting harmful UV rays before they reach
the protective outer epidermis layer of your skin. Another ingredient to look for is
ecamsule, which is a photostable sun protectant that blocks out photoaging UVA
rays.

Sunblocks are formulated to shield against UVB rays, while sunscreens protect
against UVA. In order to fully protect your skin, choose a broad-spectrum
protection formulated sunscreen that will protect against both UVA and UVB
rays. Luckily these days, formulas often contain a mixture of both sunblock and
sunscreen.
